Become a member

HUMAKO is a student organisation of the School of Humanities and Arts, and as a student of Humak you can also become a member. Whether you are a day, multi-disciplinary or online student, whether you are taking open courses or a YAMK student – we are for you!

Why become a member?

Bountiful membership benefits

As a member of HUMAKO, you are entitled to multiple discounts! As a member, you will also receive a HUMAKO membership letter with information about HUMAKO and your student life. On the Member Benefits page you will find more information about the member benefits you can access as a member of the HUMAKO Student Union.

Member benefits are available to you as soon as you become a member. You can use the HUMAKO mobile membership card Slice and the Kide.app. With the Slices membership card app, you can browse membership offers and get proof of student union membership for various discounts.

A member is a part of our student community

We are your student community. Student Union activities give you the chance to meet new people and network across campus and discipline boundaries. HUMAKO tutors and divisions organise activities on campus and online for all HUMAKO students. See all student union activities in the HUMAKO events calendar.

Peer support from your fellow students

Tutors and division members support your studies and well-being at grassroots level. Tutors provide peer support, advice on study and leisure issues. The divisions collect feedback and organise and implement various student events.

Smooth student life

Your membership enables the Student Union to work to make your life as a student even better. HUMAKO makes students voice heard both within Humak and nationally. We ensure that students can focus on their studies through advancing quality teaching, sufficient financial support and welfare services.

You can give feedback on issues that need improvement or praise for a job well done through HUMAKO. Feedback can be about the Humak, HUMAKO or any other issue that affects your student experience.

You decide what HUMAKO does

As a member of your student union, you decide what your student union is like. You can vote and stand for election in HUMAKO’s Representative Council and run for the executive board. As a member, you have the opportunity to be a student tutor or a member of a division and to be a student representative.
