At least, that’s how I felt when I was a student and I thought about what I wanted to do “when I grew up”. That’s precisely why joining a trade union in your sector is an important part of becoming an expert.

Kieliasiantuntijat (or Language Experts in English) is a professional association for all kinds of language professionals (or people studying to become them) — including for you. That means that we’re here to support and help our members in all kinds of professional issues they encounter.

It’s important to know your rights and obligations. Indeed, you should join your sector’s professional association while you’re still a student. That gives you the best support and knowledge for entering the deep end when you start working.

We help our members learn new skills, for example. We also answer many members’ questions about looking for work: that could mean helping them with writing CVs and cover letters or deciding on salary requests. We can also offer you support and advice if you become unemployed.
